Curriculum Statement

Art

At Preston, children will be inspired to look at the world through the eyes of artists, architects and designers. They will learn and develop their knowledge and skills in drawing, painting and mixed media, craft and design and sculpture. They will gain an appreciation of art already in existence and develop a love of creating their own by progressively building on their skills and experience. They will encounter a diversity of media through which to experiment and refine ideas. Children will record their exciting art journey throughout school in their sketchbooks. As they develop their evaluation skills, they will be encouraged to trust their ideas and have the confidence to express themselves as individuals.
